Talk to Our Team

A nursing agency that understands aged care

Aged care is our focus. Our agency nurses are used to busy residential aged care settings, complex clinical needs and the realities of handover at 7am. They step in calmly, work alongside your existing staff and keep resident safety front of mind.

As part of Chris Barnard Health, our nursing agency is backed by an ISO 9001 certified quality system and a dedicated aged care allocations team. You’ll always speak to a real person who knows your facility.

When aged care providers call us

Most aged care providers come to us when something unexpected happens. Others use our agency nursing service to keep their rosters steady all year round. We regularly cover:

  • Staff absences, including sick leave and annual leave
  • Roster gaps on night shifts, weekends and public holidays
  • Short notice cover when a resident’s needs change
  • Ongoing staff shortages while you recruit permanent staff

Flexible staffing solutions

Every residential care home runs differently, so our staffing solutions are flexible. Choose the kind of support that suits your rosters and budget.

Casual Shifts

Need cover for one shift or a handful? We fill casual shifts for aged care homes across mornings, afternoons and nights, often at short notice.

Block Bookings

For longer gaps, block bookings place the same registered nurse with you for weeks at a time, giving residents and staff a familiar face.

Temporary Cover

Our temporary placements help aged care facilities through roster gaps, peak periods, leave seasons or a change of management, without lowering the standard of care.

What our registered nurses do

Our RNs provide the full range of clinical care expected of a registered nurse in residential aged care, including:

  • Clinical assessment, care planning and monitoring of residents
  • Medication management and administration
  • Wound care and pain management
  • Dementia care and supporting residents with changed behaviours
  • Palliative care and end-of-life support
  • Leading and supporting enrolled nurses and personal care workers
  • Clear clinical documentation and handover to the next shift

Above all, they deliver person centred care. That means respecting each resident’s preferences and treating older people with dignity, so they feel known, not just cared for.

Supporting your 24/7 registered nurse requirement

Under current rules, residential aged care homes must have a registered nurse on site and on duty 24 hours a day. When an RN calls in sick overnight, the 24/7 registered nurse obligation doesn’t pause.

Our agency nurses help you meet it, and help protect your care minutes, so residents keep receiving the direct care and clinical care they need. Every RN we place contributes to registered nurse care minutes while they’re on shift.

Credentialing and compliance

Every registered nurse goes through our nursing agency credentialing process before their first shift, so you can be confident they’re qualified and ready for your facility.

Ahpra Registration

We check each nurse’s registration with Ahpra and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and confirm they’re listed on the Register of practitioners without conditions that would affect their role. We recheck registration regularly, not just once.

Screening and Checks

Our registered nurses hold a current police certificate and the worker screening checks your setting requires, including an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance where needed. We also check references and conduct a detailed interview with our recruitment consultants, because we choose nurses for character as well as qualifications: kindness, patience and reliability.

Aged Care Regulation

Our team stays up to date with the Aged Care Act 2024, the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and the Code of Conduct for Aged Care. We keep records in line with what the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission expects of registered providers, and we hold a labour hire licence [CONFIRM LICENCE DETAILS]. Compliance is part of how we work every day, and if something goes wrong, we follow a structured Open Disclosure process, telling you openly what happened and what we’re doing about it.

Orientation and continuity of care

Before a first shift, each nurse receives an orientation brief covering your facility, systems and key resident needs. Where we can, we send the same registered nurses back, building continuity of care and trust with your residents and staff, so agency staff settle in quickly. If a nurse isn’t the right fit, tell us and we’ll change it.

Where we work

We supply registered nurses across Victoria, including metropolitan Melbourne and regional areas, throughout Tasmania, including Hobart, and across New South Wales, including Sydney. Our head office is at 508 Waverley Road, Malvern East.

Whether you run a small regional residential care home or a large metropolitan group, our registered nurse agency gives you access to experienced registered nurses who are ready to step in. We work with aged care facilities and aged care homes of every size and give you the support you need from the very first call.
